Bash to Give Away Profits

Funding Opportunity for Nonprofit Organizations

The Bay View Community Fund, Inc., continues its tradition of distributing net profits to a nonprofit organization.

Application for funding is now closed. Deadline was October 1, 2011.

Net proceeds from the Bay View Bash will be distributed to one or more nonprofit organizations.

We hope to award $3,000.00. Depending on the success of the Bay View Bash, there may be more than one award. Requests for lesser amounts are welcome.

The successful applicant for these funds will be a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, or a community program with a fiscal agent relationship to a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.

A successful Grant Proposal will accord with the mission statement of the Bay View Community Fund Inc. The BVCF wishes to contribute to a neighborhood in the city of Milwaukee in one or several of the following ways:

  • Service to a needy population, or
  • A facility or enhancement or beautification of a public space.
  • A successful Grant Proposal will address some or all of these points of service:
Feasibility. Are your goals reasonable? Is the funding you are requesting adequate? Please name a specific dollar amount requested. (Seed money applications are welcome.)
Context. How will a grant connect to the larger community? What need are you serving? Who will benefit?

Volunteers.
The RFP Judges and Bash Planners consider volunteering to be a significant consideration for organizations requesting Bash funds. We are all-volunteer; no paid staff.
Can you help promote the Bash by recruiting volunteers for the day of the Bash? Two … ten … twenty - a team of volunteers? Volunteer Sign Up.

Preference is given to specific projects rather than general organizational operating costs.

FAQ

The 8th annual Bay View Bash will take place on Saturday, September 17, 2011, from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Kinnickinnic Avenue between Potter Street and Clement Avenue, Milwaukee, WI.

The Bay View Bash, organized in 2004, is Milwaukee’s largest, and only 100% volunteer-run festival, and offers an opportunity for Bay View’s residents, business owners, and visitors to eat, drink, dance, shop and play on Kinnickinnic Avenue.

There are no paid staff. All proceeds will be distributed to a successful Grant Proposal(s), less seed money for the next annual Bash.

The goal of the Bash is the street festival itself - a party of and by neighbors and visitors to Bay View. Raising funds because of a successful Bash event is our secondary goal. It is the hope of the Bash planners to find wide support for the Bash in our community: volunteers, sponsors, and neighbors.

We enjoy the annual street festival and hope it will strengthen nonprofit organizations that serve local needs. Working together strengthens all community organizations.

Date: Saturday, September 17, 2011, from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Location: Kinnickinnic Avenue between Potter and Clement.

Over a dozen bands - mostly local.

The Bay View Bash is an all-volunteer street festival. There is no paid staff.

Volunteers. Supporting the expected 20,000 or more who will attend the Bash are “Day of Bash” volunteers. We are reaching out to other organizations to help us recruit over 100 volunteers. Volunteer tasks include: composting food, recycling, policing the grounds, vendor support, answering questions, and safety. Volunteers will have the support of a paid, professional security crew, and an on-site ambulance crew.

We welcome all.

The Bash Planning Team
